Dying Fetus + Despised Icon + Vitriol
Yesterday on 14/12/24, we went to these 3 fantastic bands. And there was also Chelsea Grin, which we watched from the background.
Vitriol, their bass player had quit the tour before, so it was more of a duet. I felt a bit sorry for them, but they did an excellent job. In the last two songs, the guitar players' string has torn and while the drummer continued to play, the guitar player changed to another guitar. I wish they had a full line up and were not the first band on this evening. Despite everything, we had a lot of fun with them. đ€
Despised Icon, last time I've seen them was at the sucksânâsummer 2010 festival. 14 years ago. What a long time. So much has happened since then. Also for the band. They split up for 4 years and made 2 records which I love and listen to regularly. Besides one song they did not play, I was completely satisfied with the Setlist. They even played Retina, one of my favorite songs of all their records. â€ïž I hope they will play more shows in Germany in the future. Maybe they release a record in 2025 and go on a big tour. Who knows? đ€· I'd be all for it.
Chelsea Grin. Before they played, I didnât know anything about them. While they played, and we listened from the background, I was checking their Wikipedia page. They have quite of a history. Their singer is the former Lorna Shore singer. They sounded overall a lot like old suicide silence. Which was not bad but somewhat boring. The last 2 songs were good and I liked some parts. But overall, we were happy when they were done. The people in Berlin seemed to like them more as we are. đ
Dying Fetus are one of those bands where, I thought, boring technical death metal. Not that technical death metal is boring. No way. But in the case of Dying Fetus, I expected something monotonous, which is then, as a result, boring for me. Nevertheless, just wow, what a live presence. They've played for around an hour and at no time I didnât felt not entertained. It had something meditative. đ I know I will not start listing to them regularly, but if I have the opportunity to see them live again, I will. Big recommendation. And Berlin also had a lot of fun with them. The pit was in constantly moving. đș
To wrap things up, this show was the perfect ending for this year of shows. If I count them correctly, there were 15 shows this year. And I already plan to go to at least 5 other shows in 2025. đ Iâve enjoyed every one of the shows and I hope I can do it also in 2025.
I hope someone gets something out of these kind posts. At least for me, itâs some kind of documentation. đ€
